Camp Fire Girls resume seventh grade Discovery Club

Regular meetings resumed last week for the Ma Na Ka Ta Camp Fire group in Jr High. Meetings will be held each Thursday night at the girls homes with hostesses rotating. Officers elected include Debbie Bradley president Jennifer Tatum vice president Debbie Welsh secretary Kay Taylor treasurer. Additional members registering were Malinda Smith Gloria Adair Susan Duden Kim Herber and Carol Best.

California Women in Chambers Convene in Oxnard Weekend

Fern Green president of California Women in Chambers of Commerce will lead meetings October 1 through 3 in Oxnard. Delegates include Mrs Olivia Cotsenmeyer Helen Smith and Stella Reed with Merrijane Pritchard as parliamentarian and other registered members. Green has chaired CWCC for seven years and strengthened the charter with her executive board.

Colorful Indian program marks DAR event at Santa Maria chapter

Daughters of the American Revolution showcased an authentic American Indian program led by Capt Henry Sweetser Chapter members. Mrs W M Harris hosted the fall meeting with co host Mrs G Hamill and display contributions from Mrs Juanita Centeno and granddaughters. Sioux dancer Mrs Fawn Shaw wore elkskin dress beads plumes and silver jewelry. The gathering closed with an Indian prayer as DAR members support native traditions and discuss leadership changes for regent and vice regent offices.

Van Patten Campbell Wedding in Lompoc Church of Christ

The ceremony for Mr. and Mrs. Dwaine Campbell was held September 18 at Lompoc Church of Christ. Bride Dean Van Patten wore beige crepe with daisy lace. her sister Donna Hicks honored as matron. Best man Greg Gilber and usher Don Van Patten attended. Reception followed in the church social hall. The bride, Cal Poly graduate, is employed by Trans America Insurance. groom studies electronic engineering technology at Cal Poly.

Teachers at Fillmore School hosted the initial PTA event led by Principal Tom Love. Officers include president Mrs. R. D. Beetle game entertains Transatlantic Brides and Parents

The World War I Beetle game known as cooties provided amusement at the Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association September meeting. Mrs. Robert Beard was a two time winner, with other prizes claimed by Mines Jack Kain Jay Rupe and Ralph Smith. International guests included Mrs. Keith Hooper and Mrs. Robert Baray among others. The club will meet on the second Wednesday monthly at St Mary's Church social hall.

Cub Scout Pack 62 Recruits Members and Awards

Recruiting of new members dominates Cub Scout Pack 62 activities this month led by John Hernandez with Lester Bondietti Mike Herber Bobby Perry and Jimmy Lauderdale. Awards were given to Patrick Sauvageau Fred Perry Mike Herber Judy Perry Bill Dickau Ben Felix Larry Hernandez and others. Special trophies honored attendees of summer activities.
