Nixon Orders Armed Guards On Airliners Worldwide

President Nixon ordered armed guards on many US and international commercial flights starting Saturday to counter air piracy. Cambodian troops brace for Communist counterattack after siege lift

Cambodian government forces say they broke a 60 day siege of Kompong Thom and now prepare for a Communist counterattack. Flood waters opened waterways to the southwest allowing gunboats to reach the city as patrols draw the enemy out. U.S. reports note two American soldiers killed and two wounded in the Central Highlands as clashes continue. Mortar fire near a Marine position hit a village killing three civilians and wounding 13 others while additional rounds hit the Leatherneck Outpost with no casualties.
