Maddox Near No Runoff in Georgia Democratic Primary

Barbershop Auditions Tonight At VAFB Center

Storms across upper Midwest cause outages and damage

Thunderstorms swept the upper Midwest causing power and communication outages in Wisconsin and Iowa and heavy property damage from downed trees. Temperatures plunged with frost expected, while Dyersville and Dubuque reported total outages and two injuries near Dickeyville from high winds.

Ford's Pinto, with 75 horsepower and bucket seats, debuts Friday at 1919 dollars while Chevrolet Vega goes on sale at 2091 dollars. VW starts around 1839 dollars with rises expected. Indians’ Puyallup River camp sparked clash over fishing rights

Tacoma police kept round the clock watch at a deserted Indian encampment on the Puyallup River after a clash over fishing rights. Sixty two people were arrested while tear gas subdued defenders. two firebombs were thrown and a railroad trestle was damaged. Witnesses reported shots at a fisheries patrol boat as officers moved in to seize nets from the river. Automakers Stalling as UAW Targets Strike Threat

UAW President Leonard Woodcock says automakers are stalling toward a strike as midnight contract expirations loom. He visited General Motors and Chrysler to push movement while noting the talks remain far apart on wages and benefits, with preliminary offers diverging by about 66 cents an hour in the first year.
