Alpha Club Opens Season With Fashion Show and Elections

Lompoc Alpha Club members plan a fall fashion show Getting to Know You with models the Mines Harry Kahler C D McCabe Walter Holmdahl Bruce Boyer John Larsson Leonard Clayton Richard Osmundson Perry Martin Earl Panner and Charles Laubly The event includes styling by Moore's Stalkers and Fashion at the Inn makeup by Billie Hood with Mrs John Sanders as style commentator and Grace Anderson providing music. New officers include Mrs C Reese Thompson president and other officers and board members listed. An adoption notice reports Lori Dee adopted by Mr and Mrs Donald A Christiansen. the family plans travel to Italy later this month.

Jewelry and fashion program for Alpha Alpha Rho Beta Sigma Phi

The Alpha Alpha Rho Beta Sigma Phi chapter hosts a program on jewelry fashion and the influence of history on design led by Mrs. Duke Loerch with Mrs. Douglas Lick and Mrs. Marvin Nottbohm. A family picnic is planned for Sept. 14 at Lopez Dam and a calendar of monthly programs and garden club events follows. The LOVARTAS gallery features George Johnson scratchboard works from Sept 12 to Oct 9 at Independence Square with a reception Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Douglas Wives to Install Officers

The McDonnell Douglas Wives Club will install officers at its September meeting. Hostess Mrs Phillip Ridout will oversee a Thursday 7 30 p m gathering at 4149 Woodland Santa Maria. Members will discuss project ideas and a $300 donation shared by Lompoc Valley and Santa Maria Associations for Retarded Children. Transportation help offered via local phone numbers.

Sisters Attend Seventh Christian Science Biennial Conference

Linda and Karen Osmundson daughters of Mr and Mrs Richard C Osmundson 216 Somerset Place returned from the seventh Christian Science Biennial College Conference held August 28 30 in Boston Massachusetts The conference theme Building in a Revolutionary period addressed youth challenges from campus unrest to birth control Erwin D Canham editor in chief of the Christian Science Monitor gave the keynote address Over 6000 students from 1300 colleges and universities representing 30 nations spent more than a million dollars to attend Linda a junior at the University of California Santa Barbara and Karen a freshman at Allan Hancock College traveled with a California group by chartered bus.

Body Beautiful concept reshapes views on female beauty

Mrs. Howard Williams presented The Body Beautiful at the Omega Pi Chapter Beta Sigma Phi fall meeting. She contrasted Renaissance ideals with Napoleonic beauty and urged health, diet, and exercise as universal paths to fitness. Assisted by Mrs. Oliver Hammond, the program demonstrated female fitness and spot reducing with running named as optimal for proportion. Refreshments featured fresh vegetable relishes and an aspic salad amid yellow and white daisies. Business notes kept traditions, funded fudge Easter eggs, and set Boys Club as a local service project. Hostess was Mrs. Ron Meidell. guests included Mrs. Thomas Seper, Mrs. Ronald McGinley, and Mrs. Lyle Coffin.
