Funny books spark laughs amid serious children’s tales
Capsule reviews note Ellen Conford’s talent for humor in Luck of Pokey Bloom and Dear Lovey Hart, I Am Desperate. The pieces follow Pokey’s contest mania, Lovey Hart’s anonymous advice column caper, Brown Mouse and Vole antics, Don’t Forget the Bacon’s grocery scramble, and The Mark of Conte’s high school double schedules.
