A federal judge fined Star Kist Foods Inc and its Samoan subsidiary $8,000 for distributing canned tuna considered contaminated. California Supreme Court rules widow gets workmen's compensation
The court held that the proximate cause of Daniel McCarty's death stemmed from his employment at a plumbing firm which hosted a company time party during 1971. An employer that tolerates or encourages employee drinking cannot later claim the injury was due to the employee's intoxication.
