Three held in burglary of Pea Soup Andersen's

A Mission Hills couple and a man from Lompoc were charged with the $20,000 theft from Andersen's Split Pea Soup Restaurant in Buellton. Detectives say about $8,000 was recovered, with roughly $1,000 later found.

Ford visits Nixon in hospital amid reemergent campaign

President Ford made an eight minute bedside visit to gravely ill Richard Nixon at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Ford said Nixon was alert and interested in talks on Japan and the Soviet Union and Kissinger's trip to India. Nixon remained in critical condition after surgery and a brush with death.
