Child Abduction Case Ends With Arrests of Fouquet Parents

Jody Fouquet, found wandering along US Highway 99 near Bakersfield, identified her parents Ronald Fouquet and Betty Louise Fouquet as her guardians who reportedly abandoned her. Deputies arrested the couple on suspicion of felony child abandonment as the girl, aged four, remained in juvenile care.

Police arrest seven men for drug sales near elementary school

In New York police captured seven men outside a neighborhood elementary school amid a bareknuckle brawl while authorities say heroin and other drugs were sold to children. Seized were heroin, a cocaine capsule, $250 in coins and notes, and allegedly stolen merchandise including a portable TV. Six suspects ranged 20 to 31 years old. operation ran from 7 to 9 am.

U S Deaths in Vietnam Jump Above Hundred

The U S combat toll rose to 102 last week, a 30 percent increase from 78, while 530 servicemen were wounded. Government casualties topped U S losses for the 24th straight week, with 297 killed and 860 wounded. Viet Cong and North Vietnamese deaths reached 2,303. The week included a major engagement northwest of Saigon where 10 Americans were killed.

Nobel Prize in Physics Awarded to Murray Gell-Mann

The 1969 Nobel Prize in Physics goes to Murray Gell-Mann of Caltech for classifying elementary particles and the quark concept. Chemistry honors Derek Barton and Odd Hassel for conformational chemistry. Awards total $72,400 each.
