Alisal Ranch development plan urged for 1000 extra homes
County Planning Commission staff backed amending the General Plan to allow about 1,000 more residential units on the 10,000 acre Alisal Ranch in Santa Ynez Valley. The proposal includes two golf courses as open space and a resort designation around the ranch area, plus 900 additional units with a lake and golf course in a clustered layout. Two other plans from Insignis Inc. and ESI Land Technology were not recommended, due to concerns over premature development and setting a precedent for leap frog growth in the Santa Ynez Valley.
