Ocean quake rattles Lompoc Valley near Vandenberg
A offshore earthquake about 60 miles south of Lompoc and Vandenberg AFB registered 5.3 on the Richter scale. No damage or injuries were reported. The tremor lasted about one minute, felt in Lompoc at 9 55 a.m. and described as the strongest by base officials. The epicenter was off the Santa Barbara Channel at coordinates 34 36 N, 121 30 W.
