Nancy Donovan Named 4-H Staff Choice for Citizenship Courses

Nancy Donovan, a home economics student at California Polytechnic State University and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Donovan of 169 Santa Rosa Road, was selected as one of ten college students to serve on the National 4-H Foundation staff for summer citizenship short courses in Washington, D.C. The program runs June 4 through August 24 and involves more than 6,000 4-H teens in one week of leadership training. Nancy has been active in multiple 4-H projects and served as junior leader for three years.

University Women Install Local AAUW Officers in Lompoc

The Lompoc Vandenberg Branch of the American Association of University Women installed new council officers at the Orr House led by Carol Nash and Phyllis White. Connie Savage is president, with Sue Zgliczynski as vice president and Annette Trujillo as second vice president, plus Olive King recording secretary Sandra Wheeler corresponding secretary and Toni Kuehneman treasurer. Savage, a Cal Poly graduate and Girl Scout field director, outlines topics for the year including Self Discovery Dynamic Learning and Global Independence while inviting community involvement in study groups. A Gourmet for Couples group hosts social events such as a French chicken in wine banquet at Tahitian Village Recreation Center.
