Bell tower at La Purisima Mission will peal at 11 a.m. to start the Catholic Mass as thousands attend the festival at the State historical park. About 10,000 visitors are expected with 21 demonstrations including olive press and candle dipping.

Unrest at California campuses as police move on demonstrators

Disruptions at UCLA and Stanford campuses continue as California police and guardsmen employ tear gas clubs and fixed bayonets. At UCLA the crowd retreated from the faculty club as protesters chanted pigs off campus. Police also routed 700 Stanford protesters blocking bay area traffic with flaming barricades.

Cape Kennedy reporters noted a tiny helium leak traced to a loose sensor on the Apollo 10 moonship but quickly repaired without delaying the countdown for the 12 49 p m EDT launch of Stafford Young and Cernan. The crew rested ahead of the climactic final hours of prep for a July moon landing. Weather forecasts continued for the mission window.

Apollo 10 is set to orbit the Moon a record 32 times and fly within 50 000 feet of the surface in a rehearsal for a landing. A helium leak, first detected Friday night, was traced to a loose pressure sensor and tightened. no further leakage followed.
