Lompoc Prize Contest Honors Originality in RCA Victor Win

Betty Larsen of 110 South B Street wins first prize in the Moore's Department Store RCA Victor contest for originality. Her cake entry outlined the puzzle answer in icing and survived a mishap en route to the car. Second prize goes to B A Balzer of 336 North W Street for neatness and third to Blanche C Blessing for legibility.

Setting Up Drainage Districts Requires Board Action

A county board resolution creates drainage districts while abandoning one requires an election. Supervisors are creating new zones under the flood control ordinance and seek to close Miguelito and Cebada districts. To dissolve, a petition with at least half of the district freeholders must be presented, prompting an election.

Women’s Guild To Meet Thursday In Lompoc

Circle meetings of the Lompoc Presbyterian Women’s Guild are scheduled for Thursday May 24 at 1 p.m. Circle One meets with Mrs. William Perozzi at 400 East Olive Avenue. Circle Two meets with Mrs. Lucy Main at 314 East Locust Avenue. Circle Three meets with Mrs. F. W. Keys at 414 South L Street. The Evening Circle meets with Mrs. Eugene Morin at 506 No. C Street. All groups study Christian Living Family Style and Lesson V from The Way and the Wayfarer.

Lompoc Garden Section members tour local gardens

The Lompoc Community Womans Club Garden Section visited Mrs K W Hover's home on May 15 for cake coffee and a tour of Lompoc gardens. They toured Mrs James Beattie on Douglas Avenue and Mrs Loren Sechrest on South H Street. Mrs Ethel Burton was named new Garden Section chairman with Mrs Wm Alexander as co chair.

Lompoc High Prom Set at Veterans Memorial Building

The Junior Class announces the annual Junior-Senior Prom to be held at the Veterans Memorial Building on Saturday May 26 from nine to one. Alumni and LUHS members are invited. seniors and their escorts admitted free, others pay one dollar. Guest cards available from the Principal’s office.

OCA Members Set Election Meet

The Community Concert Association will hold its annual meeting Monday May 28 at 8:00 p.m. in the high school agriculture building to nominate and elect seven directors for a three year term. Mrs. Carl Kappler chairs the event and urges member participation. A board meeting will follow to elect officers including president Mrs. Carl Kappler, vice president Mrs. B H Solovsky, and treasurer Mr. William Keyes.
