City Clears Bid Procedures Assurances Against Favoritism
At a city council meeting on Tuesday the council and department heads assured that bid specifications for city equipment were not rigged to favor any dealer. Councilman Glenn Schuyler raised the issue noting looser specs saved the city 1000 on a police car. The authorization of bids for a 2 ton truck prompted assurances that any Lompoe dealer could meet the specs, supported by a local automobile dealer.

Rameriz Undergoes Observation in Delinquency Case
Superior Court proceedings against Juan Rameriz for contributing to the delinquency of a minor were suspended on Monday. He was committed to Camarillo State Hospital for observation. Depending on hospital findings, he may be sent to Atascadero or another state institution or returned to court to complete his trial. Rameriz was already serving a jail sentence on a child beating charge when summoned on the contributing charge.

City Council rejects move of dog pound to residential zone
The city council Tuesday turned down a proposal from the Humane Society to relocate the dog pound from the mesa by the city dump to the B street and College avenue intersection. It was ruled a violation of zoning laws and an encroachment on a residential district.

Lompoc High to Seek Bids for Homemaking Building
School board authorized advertising for bids to build a new homemaking building at Lompoc High School and remodel the auditorium. Architect Pierre Claeyssens will issue the call. project cost around 165000 funded by the 50 cent override tax. Once finished the homemaking space becomes academic classrooms as part of a five year plan. Nearby playground resurfacing was approved with other sites to study due to water and sewer constraints.
