Unruh seeks face to face talk on tax reform with Reagan

Reagan supporters reported 1 080 459 dollars in donations, more than five times the combined sums for Jess Unruh and Sam Yorty, with disclosures filed with Secretary of State H P Sullivan. Junior Alpha Club to help in student job office

Community interest spurs a summer student employment office in Lompoc. Volunteers from the Junior Alpha Club and Interested Parents Group will staff the Work Experience Office at Lompoc High School with training from the Santa Maria Human Resources Development office. Hours are 8 30 a m to 12 30 p m daily June 8 through July 24. Prospective employers may call RE 6 2371 Extension 281 during hours. Jobs include bus bay car washing window washing janitorial yard work stock work delivery paper route painting retail typing filing housekeeping and more. Students will submit employment cards in late May and early June and may volunteer for non profit community work.

Civil rights groups mobilize against California school integration repeal

Civil rights groups in Sacramento vow staunch opposition to the State Board of Education’s repeal of racial integration guidance for public schools. NAACP leaders and Anti-Defamation League representatives will testify at a public hearing on the March action, amid charges the repeal is illegal and immoral and will push for non compulsory balance measures.
