Second annual Lompoc Home Show features 14 stores
The Lompoc Valley Home Show opens tonight at 6 in the Veterans Memorial Building with displays from 14 stores including Appliance Center and J.C. Penney’s. Admission is free, refreshments are provided, and door prizes abound as the event runs Friday 6 to 9, Saturday 10 to 6, and Sunday noon to 6. Floyd Southern leads the association with help from Robert D Speers Mrs Pat Farage and Norma Phillips. A 20 page tabloid supplement will be distributed with today's Lompoc Record.

Mission Sunday Fiesta schedule released for La Purisima
The La Purisima Mission Association released the complete schedule for the annual Mission Sunday Fiesta led by Robert D. Speers. About 10 000 people are expected including a special group of nearly 900 with events from mass at 11 a.m. to a 3 p.m. bell ringing and a sequence of performances by local groups and dance teams.

Jackson State College gun battle leaves two students dead
In Jackson Mississippi two students were killed and at least 11 injured during a 30 minute gun battle between police and snipers firing from a girls dormitory on the Jackson State College campus. National guardsmen moved in with strict orders not to fire.

General Kronauer reassigned to Andrews Air Force Base
The Department of the Air Force announces Maj. Gen. Clifford J. Kronauer, commander of the Space and Missile Test Center at Vandenberg, will be reassigned to Headquarters Air Force Systems Command at Andrews AFB Maryland as deputy chief of staff for operations. Maj. Gen. Louis L. Wilson Jr. will succeed Kronauer at SAMSO in Los Angeles. Changes to take effect by August 1. Kronauer has led at Vandenberg since July 1967.

Yorty to Speak in Lompoc May 27 Campaign Visit
Los Angeles Mayor Sam Yorty will appear in Lompoc on May 27 as a guest of the Lompoc Valley Press Club. He will land at Lompoc Airport around 12 30 p m in a chartered plane, attend a no host luncheon at Lions Inn, and then leave for another campaign stop. The press club president says a major campaign announcement will be made for newspapermen and broadcast media. Lions Inn seats about 250 with overflow.
