Judge dismisses all charges against Ellsberg and Russo

U.S. District Court Judge Matt Byrne dismissed all espionage theft and conspiracy counts against Daniel Ellsberg and Anthony Russo Jr citing government misconduct and extraordinary disclosures. He declared a mistrial while ruling the indictment could not proceed fairly.

Zaca Lake owners face enforcement over county opinion

Attorney for Zaca Lake owners in Santa Ynez Valley says operators continue overnight camping outside the lodge in violation of a county counsel opinion. Mitchell Takes Leave From Wall Street Firm Amid Indictment

Former Attorney General John N. Mitchell withdrew his name from the firm of Judge Rose Guthrie Alexander and Mitchell and took a leave of absence to focus on personal affairs. The move comes as Mitchell faces perjury and obstructing a federal investigation charges.

Lompoc Council Faces Annexation and Zoning Debates

The council schedules a public hearing on annexation for Central Avenue land and adjacent 7.75 acre commercial area with PD and RA zones. Ecology groups oppose to preserve agriculture. A weed removal report and an appeal over a elderly home at 501 South Place are also on the agenda. Rezoning on G Street between College and Maple from R-2 to R-3 is requested.

Cushman testifies acting under authority of the President name

Gen. Robert E. Cushman says he ordered CIA help for White House agents in the Ellsberg psychiatrists case under what he believed was the authority of the President. He denied CIA wrongdoing and said John Erlichman asked him to assist Hunt. Cushman, now Marine Corps commandant, briefed three congressional committees and noted the act limits on domestic CIA activity. A note mentions Lompoc streets getting a new surfacing project.

Lompoc Planning Commission to review zoning and permits

Monday agenda includes a public hearing for pre zoning to allow a mobile home park on A Street east side and north of Central Avenue with PDR or RA zoning options. Also a conditional use permit for a bakery and tortilla shop at 138 North D Street and a one year extension request for church and classroom facilities at 403 North J Street from Rev. C W Danile.
