Judge orders release of Dean papers to prosecutors and Senate
Judge John J. Sirica ruled that both federal prosecutors and the Senate Watergate committee may view the Dean papers kept in a bank safety box. He instructed court records to be provided as certified copies, declaring “Everybody wins” after a 25 minute hearing. Man Holds People on Tank Threatening to Blow Up Fuel Storage
A man named William Abernathy seized two people and climbed a 50 foot jet fuel tank near Portland airport threatening to explode 1.3 to 1.6 million gallons of fuel. He fired at planes and bystanders but officers did not shoot for fear of triggering a fuel blast. One held man, Steve Dalling, was released unharmed after delivering Abernathy’s demand for his former wife and children.
