Cabrillo High and Lompoc Youth Plan Dances and Elections

Cabrillo High School electees organize new songleading and cheer squads for 1969 70 with six girls named for songleading and six for cheerleading while Lompoc Youth sponsors a dance at city hall featuring the Northern Lights. Cabrillo ASB elections are ruled unconstitutional prompting new elections and a runoff plan.

Lompoc High prom theme Blue Bayou announced

Lompoc High School sets Blue Bayou as the Junior Senior prom theme. The event runs May 17 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the LHS cafeteria with dark blue light blue and green colors and white accents. Tickets go on sale Monday in the cafeteria with varied prices for students and couples. Keir Sinclair leads the planning with Julia Sands and Jane Williams as co chairs.

Cabrillo CHS scores high in San Diego competition

Cabrillo High School earned the highest score of 87.4 in a San Diego contest, though not all teams won awards. The Cabrillo Girls Drill Team received a participation award, and Drum Major Andy Jennings faced a minor penalty for stepping out of position by three feet. Helix High School took three awards, while Arroyo Grande High School earned the Grand Sweepstakes Trophy.

Cabrillo ASB Candidates Explain Views and Rivalries

As Cabrillo's 1969-70 ASB race nears, three top students Jeff Dias Tim Bum and Stan Marks vie for president while four juniors seek the vice presidency. Each candidate cites goals from reviving student government to improving communication and club coordination and proposes new structures such as a student court and expanded class representation. Stan Marks criticizes past representation and emphasizes broader student input amid a disputed recent election.
