Red Cross volunteers capped at Lompoc Spring orientation
The Lompoc Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross capped 22 volunteers at an annual spring ceremony in the library multi purpose room. Mrs. William Flahert oversaw the presentation with committee chairs Mrs. Ernest Byrd and Mrs. Ralph Patey. Senior and junior volunteers received 1 to 8 year service bars and pins, with guests Joseph Alito of Vandenberg AFB and Kenneth Wicks of Lompoc Hospital in attendance. Refreshments followed the ceremonies.

Lompoc Alpha Club Garden Section sponsors a no charge flower arrangement workshop at the Alpha Clubhouse the day before their 48th annual Flower Show. Experts will demonstrate and assist visitors with arrangements from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The program runs 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Mrs Donald Cameron then Mrs Richard Luce 10:50 to 12:05 noon. Lunch at 1 p.m. includes coffee. bring notebook clipper frogs and containers. Demonstrations by Mrs Grover Graves and Mrs Andrew Joughin run 1 to 2:15 p.m. and 2:20 to 3:30 p.m. The show theme mirrors the Lompoc Flower Festival Spirit of the 70s in Flowers. The dates are Saturday and Sunday June 27 28.

Eunice Rule honored with a 50 year veteran membership jewel from Lompoc Rebekah Lodge 139 at her home on 2245 S J St. Committee members presenting the award were Mrs. Harold Edman Mrs. Vernon Schuyler Mrs. Neal Olinger and Richard Bounds. The group worked on robes for initiatory ceremonies at Mountain View Trailer Park Recreation Center with more workdays planned.
