Lost Chinese of Lompoc Valley and Gin Chow’s Fame
The Lompoc Valley’s Chinese population from the 1880s to 1920s is largely undocumented with few graves marked in Lompoc Cemetery. Gin Chow, a famed weather prophet who moved to Lompoc in 1911, published two almanacs and predicted events including the 1925 Tokyo earthquake before his 1933 death in Santa Barbara.
