Publicity stunt gun scare at Gemini Theater ends safely
Bill Tucker a 17 year old from Vandenberg Village perched on a 40 foot theater marquee with a .22 rifle near North Avenue and H Street in a publicity stunt for The Getaway. Police fearing a sniper ordered him to drop the weapon and he crawled down after officers prepared to fire. Guilino the theater manager claimed Tucker was a maintenance worker used as a publicity prop and said no harm was intended though the public crowd and traffic disruptions drew concern.
