Five men were killed and eleven injured in a weekend of bombings and shootings linked to the Provisional IRA. The bloodiest weekend of the year in Northern Ireland saw a bar and a shop heavily damaged as another man sustained wounds in two separate blasts.
Army Staff Sgt. Bobby G. Sartain is charged with stealing 360000 from the Ft. Polk Louisiana finance office after allegedly feeling like a nobody. He was caught after investigators traced the missing funds.
Navy Commander Charles Everett Southwick, six years a North Vietnamese POW, will be flown to Lompoc April 12 for a welcome by Mayor George Cotsenmoyer. An honor guard from Vandenberg AFB will greet him at the airport and he will address a crowd at the Civic Auditorium followed by a luncheon.
