Flame of Freedom lights Girl Scout bicentennial path
Gloria D. Scott, newly elected President of The Girl Scouts of the USA, spoke during opening ceremonies in Washington DC of the Flame of Freedom kindled by Betty Ford and outgoing president Marjorie Littman. The torch passed through multiple councils, troops, and regions from Ford to TOFS and 4392nd Security Police Squadron members as part of a bicentennial celebration uniting the 64th birthday of Girl Scouts with the nation’s 200th. The ceremony featured Scouts lighting candles, singing God Bless America and Taps, and reaffirming unity in spirit across the United States and abroad. The narrative also covers Red Cross volunteers Zoeanne Daniel and Barbara Wiley and notes various community activities at Vandenberg.
