In San Francisco the Hearst defense pushed to discredit government psychiatrist Dr Joel Fort who testified Hearst joined the Symbionese Liberation Army and robbed Hibernia bank. Two witnesses from the Bruce case testified Fort prescribed drugs to Bruce and made remarks about psychiatrists. Fort maintained Hearst joined the SLA willingly, saying she was bored and ripe for conversion.

NASA names pilots for shuttle mother ship test flights
Edwards AFB Calif NASA designates Fitzhugh L Fulton Jr and Thomas McMurtry to pilot a Boeing 747 mother ship for initial shuttle orbiter tests. Flight engineers Victor Horton and Louis Guidry Jr. join from Dryden and Johnson Space Center respectively. The 747 will carry the orbiter to 25 000 feet for release and glide landing. The shuttle is to be reusable unlike prior single use capsules.
