Santa Barbara County supervisors approved diverting half of estimated 880000 dollars in traffic fines to the general fund to help prevent a 1974 property tax hike. Back-a-Boy drive kicks off in Lompoc
The Lompoc Valley Boys Club began a campaign to have sponsors for a year of a boy each. President Michael Palmer notes a 1974 budget of 20 650 dollars with 43 percent from sustaining memberships and United Fund. About 11 722 dollars remains to be secured for roughly 600 boys, about 19.50 per child. Sponsorships are common in other communities, and Lompoc starts this program first.
