AMC and GM seek one year extension on 1975 emission rules

AMC joins GM in requesting a one year delay to the 1975 motor vehicle exhaust emission standards. EPA hearings on the delay are set for March 12 after appeals by the Big Three led to the U.S. Appeals Court order. AMC cites insufficient time and stricter rules as reasons for delay.

Puppet show stars Big Bad Wolf at Lompoc library

The Big Bad Wolf headlines a Wednesday puppet show by the Lompoc Junior Alpha Club Children's Department. Two skits feature Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs at 3 45 p m in the Library Multi Use Room, admission free for children aged five to twelve. Patrick Cole, son of Mr and Mrs Sylvester Cole of 1108 N Jasmine St, Lompoc, has been notified of a public hearing notice.

Lompoc Council to vote on streets trees and park plans

Lompoc City Council meets Tuesday at 7 30 p m with a short agenda tackling four street improvements under the 1911 Act including Olive Cypress Pine and North avenues. A master street tree plan is proposed along with acquisition steps for Santa Ynez River Park and updates on the backbone storm drain project.

Nixon vows no more devaluations of the dollar

President Nixon pledged at a White House news conference that the United States would not devalue the dollar again. He defended the economy as strong and warned against inflation, blaming international speculators including multinational firms and oil states for the dollar’s volatility.
