POW releases proceed amid Hanoi Summit Deadlock

North Vietnam planned to release 136 American POWs Sunday morning in Hanoi with additional landside flights. A Homecoming spokesman said three C141 transports would pick up 106 Americans, plus two West Germans, two Thais, and two Filipinos, as Viet Cong releases also proceed.

Southwick to be among released this weekend

Earle Sweetland said his son in law Navy Commander Charles Everett Southwick is among 106 POWs slated for release in Hanoi and may fly to Oak Knoll Hospital in Oakland after arriving from Clark Air Force Base. The release would reunite Mrs Karen Southwick with her husband after more than six years as a prisoner of war.

Vietnam peace plan signed in Paris by world powers

UPI reports that the United States China and the Soviet Union led 12 nations to sign a nine point plan for lasting peace in Vietnam. The six page agreement was signed at 3 25 p m with each minister using his own pen and five copies issued. Canada and South Vietnam reserved. The ceremony occurred at the International Conference Center once a Nazi Gestapo headquarters.

The 1973 Lompoc Valley Flower Festival stalls as only six groups have signed to sponsor a queen candidate. Air Force unveils T43A trainer to shave costs

The Air Force introduces a modified Boeing 737 based T43A flying classroom to train navigators faster and cheaper, replacing World War II era gear. The program aims to save up to 27 million dollars annually. The first of 19 planes rolls out in Seattle with training at Mather AFB planned to begin in early 1974.
