Hostage Diplomats Executed by Black September at Khartoum Embassy

Four diplomats were taken hostage at the Saudi embassy in Khartoum. Two U.S. diplomats Cleo Noel and George Moore were shot dead by Black September after a deadline. Belgian chargé d’affaires Guy Eid was gravely wounded, with Saudi and Jordanian envoys remaining captive as states urged action and Nixon denounced the killings.

Wounded Knee siege escalates as federal forces come under fire

Federal officers were shot at repeatedly Friday by about 200 militants occupying Wounded Knee on the Pine Ridge Reservation. A Justice Department official warned force is not ruled out to end the confrontation. No federal injuries were reported as shots targeted BIA agents, marshals, and an FBI roadblock amid ongoing tense stalemate.

North Vietnam to Free 106 POWs in Hanoi Sunday

North Vietnam announced 106 American prisoners of war would be released Sunday at Hanoi airport. The Viet Cong said 30 more prisoners would be freed Monday in Hanoi. A U S spokesman cited Viet Cong notification to the JMC that the extra release would occur Monday with no time yet given.

LEDA reports efforts and prospects for Lompoc firms

LEDA has contacted over 4,200 firms in the Lompoc Valley in two years. The group lists 27 firms as prospects with immediate or near-term plant plans and about four as inactive. LEDA also classifies 52 as suspects likely to plan facilities within five years and pursues follow up as plans firm up. The association says work extends to commercial services, residential development, and expansion ventures.
