Salmon angling shines as Santa Maria boat nets five limits

Fishermen from Santa Maria, Dick Mitchell and party aboard Woulfing's boat off Pismo Pier, reported five salmon limits by 10:30 a.m. The catch averaged 12 pounds, with a 23-pounder named by Mitchell as the largest. Baited with anchovies and flashers, the group noted possible oddities in some salmon scales and urged reporting to Fish and Game. Surf fishing at Oceano Beach remains active despite oil, and Severs Tackle Store at Oceano Ramp promotes a warm, inviting shop.
