Lompoc City Council Tightens Zoning Rules and Approvals

The Lompoc City Council reviewed public hearings on zoning and assessments. It allowed the Planning Commission to grant PD Zone extensions, considered rezoning for a 100-bed convalescent hospital, set minimum RA lot sizes at five acres, and approved street assessments. Awards honored Fire Chief John Baker and Roy Fosterling. A personnel rules supplement and gas tax funded street plans were also approved.

Disorders bill before committee

Sacramento UPI report notes half of an omnibus campus disorder bill moved to a final vote in the Assembly. The measure by Assemblyman Frank Murphy would jail punish disruptions on campuses, allow bans by the chief administrator, apply breach of peace rules on campus, and require school approval for loudspeaker use. A companion bill by John Stull would cut state financial aid to students involved in campus disorders.
