Fires Burn Brief Brush Near Van Denberg Village
Fire crews battled two small blazes totaling about 11 acres of brushland near Van Denberg Village. The first spot was west of Moonglow Avenue, the second about a half mile south of the village and west of Lompoc Casmalia Road. Both fires occurred shortly before 5 p.m. No damage was reported.

A private 11 a.m. graveside service was held for the infant son of Tsgt and Mrs. Brian Viets at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery after dying at birth at Vandenberg AFB Hospital. He is survived by his parents a sister Tracey and two brothers Brian Jr and Scott. Services were directed by Newhart Family Mortuary Santa Maria.

Roof collapse kills 50 at Spanish restaurant fiesta
