Reverend Batty among Chapman graduates in Lompoc ceremony

Reverend Arthur Batty, age 66, is among 15 Lompoc students earning Chapman College degrees on June 15. Batty, Army veteran and former first chaplain at Federal Correctional Institution, earned a BA in social sciences and will pursue a counseling master's. He plans to apply his degree to church work and rejects a PhD at this time.

Drunk Driving Case Sentences Man in Lompoc Court

William Symionow, 36, of 340 Rosewood Ave Vandenberg AFB, was sentenced in Lompoc Justice Court to five days in jail and a $720fine on his second drunken driving conviction within 24 hours. Judge Terrill F. Cox also suspended his privileges for a year after he paid a $360 fine for the first incident from June 6.

Barbecue Dinner Dance Sponsored by Loyal Order of Moose

The Loyal Order of Moose sponsors a beef barbecue dinner dance at Moose Lodge 921 West Laurel Avenue on Saturday June 14. Dinner from 7 to 9 pm followed by dancing to the Rondells from 9 pm to 2 am. Open to members and guests. Tickets three dollars at the door or via lodge members.

Fiesta-A beef barbecue and dance fundraiser announced

The Mexican Social Organization sponsors a noon barbecue and dance Sunday June 15 at the Veterans Memorial Building. Tony Nunes and his Orchestra will play from 3 p.m. Proceeds aid queen candidates for the Mexican Independence Fiesta on Sept 15-16. Additional barbecues are planned June 29 July 13 20 and Aug 3 at Miguelito Park.

Local youth clubs outline summer plans in Lompoc

Lompoc groups map summer activities with the Boys Club and Girls Club offering trips, camping, tournaments and classes. The Boys Club serves about 300 daily, 1 000 total participants, with dues of 1.60 and hours 1 to 5 and 6 to 9. The Girls Club at 122 N G St hosts cooking, arts, crafts and gab sessions for girls ages six to 18, with a 50 cent fee and extensive volunteer support.

Two 16 year olds arrested in Market Spot Bakery burglary

Lompoc police cleared a 130 dollar burglary at Market Spot Bakery 1126 West Ocean Avenue last month with the arrest of two Santa Maria youths, both 16, who were turned over to the probation department.
