Minuteman II costs rise by nearly 4 billion in overruns

Lompoc Council Approves Largest City Budget Ever

Lompoc City Council approved a record budget totaling 4,136,591 for the upcoming year at a 1.24 per 100 tax rate. The vote trimmed minor items in two sessions while a single taxpayer criticism targeted sewer charges as 1.18 of 2 would cover operation costs. Mayor and administrator defended use of funds and reallocation of 18 cents from sewer construction, with some citizens voicing concern. Santa Ynez Water District OKs Hold-the-Line Budget

Santa Ynez River Water Conservation District directors approved the 1969-70 budget totaling 31,005 with an eight cent tax rate. The board cut the special services fund proposal to 12,000 and reserved about 70,000 in reserves. They also discussed studies on Lompoc Project productivity, gauging stations along the Santa Ynez River, salt balance in the Lompoc Plain, and potential Bureau of Reclamation actions. The eight cent rate would raise about 28,000 against an estimated 35.5 million valuation.
