A Los Angeles federal court ordered Roger Lytle Morehart to pay 9736.58 in Forest Service fire suppression costs from a 35 acre brush fire on his ranch near Los Padres National Forest started October 19 1966 by a tractor without a spark arrester. The jury deliberated three hours before finding negligence.
