Britt Johnson resigned as secretary of the County Planning Commission at a County Employees Retirement Assn. board meeting. He said he cannot attend monthly sessions because the planning body meets on the same day each week.

County Surplus Investment Earns $22 694 in June

County government investments of short term surplus earned 22 694 in June. County Treasurer Edward A McMillan said the interest came from U S Treasury notes and bonds with short periods of investment ranging from 1 million to 4 million.

Local woman wins Enco Tiger prize at grand opening

Mrs. Robert D. Maxwell of 1216 N First Place Lompoc returned from vacation to learn she won a four foot high stuffed Enco Tiger at the Akins Enco grand opening on the corner of North H Street and Central Avenue two weeks ago. She gave the tiger to her 11 year old daughter Sandra.

Route 1 Shoulders Paved Near Lompoc Under Plan

The State Highway Commission budgeted 43500 to pave Route 1 shoulders from near Lompoc Casmalia Road to Burton Mess Road north of Lompoc. The 20 foot wide with soft shoulders roadway sees pedestrians bicyclists and horses encroaching on lanes. The project links to a future frontage road for a Lompoc bypass planned for budgeting in three years, based on Robert Herdman of Solvang's recommendations.
