Bus crash kills seven children in Allentown
A chartered bus carrying 61 people including 49 children veered off a rain slick Interstate 78 in Allentown. Seven children died and 52 were injured as the bus plunged 50 feet down a embankment after hitting guardrails. Investigators from state police and the National Transportation Safety Board questioned driver Heiver Daye who remained in critical condition.

Cambodian forces retreated from Kirirom after six days of costly counterattacks against guerrillas who seized the mountaintop village. Viet Cong and North Vietnamese units attacked a government ammunition depot at Long Vek, 30 miles north of Phnom Penh, with fighting continuing.
