The City Administrator announced reassignments moving water and electricity to standard supervision and planning duties to Dustin Griffith as Clint Sherrod resigns. The changes aim to streamline utilities and planning, possibly saving over $30,000 annually, with no immediate need for a full time planning director.
Leland Parish of Carson City faced a drunken and reckless driving charge after his stage coach overturned on Canyon Road while turning onto Cemetery Pass. Parish, 44, worked for a company that operates tourist stagecoaches in Virginia City.
Funeral services were conducted for Lester Willard Groseth 48 at McPeek Family Mortuary. Born November 20 1921 in Seattle Washington he died Thursday at Lompoc District Hospital. He was an electronics technician for McDonnell Douglas at Vandenberg AFB and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Audine and children Michael Kathleen Cynthia David and Jenny of the home. sister Elvina Wolff Fairbanks Alaska. brother Charles Barton Jr Washington. mother Esther Barton Granite Falls and father Roy Groseth Oxnard.
