Council Approves Sandwiched Storm Drain Plan And Nuisance Abatement

The City Council voted to complete designs and bid for a storm drain system estimated at 648000 dollars funded by a mix of state grants flood control funds and revenue sharing. They also abated three nuisance properties and rejected a Santa Barbara Community Action Commission funding request while tucking in other items for later staff review. Brown urges repeal of sales tax increase

Price freeze tied to 1973 food costs outlook

Washington experts say lifting the price freeze quickly could help stabilize food prices through the year if harvests meet expectations. Don Paarlberg cautions it is early to forecast 1973 trends while some officials doubt current estimates will hold. Alice the first hurricane nears Bermuda with 90 mph winds

Hurrican gaining force as Alice, the season’s first hurricane, heads toward Bermuda packing near 90 mph winds. The National Hurricane Center warned heavy rains and tides three to five feet above normal and that Hamilton could bear the full force if winds near 100 mph.
