PUC Sets Lompoc Sewer Rate Hearing January 23
The California Public Utilities Commission schedules a public hearing January 23 at the Lompoc Public Library on Lompoc Utility Services request to raise sewer rates 44 percent for about 800 Mission Hills customers. Residential rate would rise from 4 to 5.75 monthly. deposits equal to two months’ bills, a 6 percent penalty for late payment, and disconnection for nonpayment are proposed.

Stolen gasoline drum reported. DUI arrest and local notices
A 50 gallon drum with six gallons of gasoline was stolen from the city dump with a loss valued at 11.50. Charles Earl Wherry, 38, of Mission Hills, faces DUI charges after an early arrest on Lompoc-Casmalia Road and is bailed at 720. Two men 41 and 35 were taken into custody in Sutherlin Oregon for the murder of a California teen couple in Victorville and a bank robbery in Santa Fe New Mexico. They face murder and robbery related warrants and had been stopped for littering before APB awareness.
