The City Council approved hiring Kruger Benson Ziemen of Santa Barbara to design a $300000 fire station contingent on voter approval of a June 3 bond issue. A $500000 bond was suggested, with the site at I Street and Maple Avenue and a 13500 to 15000 square foot facility.

Heavy rains soak Valley amid prolonged flood cycle
Heavy rains drenched the Lompoc area raising season totals to 16.26 inches as more rain fell this morning. In Cachuma Dam region the total rose to 27.06 inches with gates open for a 25th straight day since January 25. Officials expect continued spill possibly through July 1. No injuries were reported though the wet cycle slows restoration of lands flooded January 24 and 25.
