Defense Department confirms the death of Chief Warrant Officer Ronald J. Fulton 27 of Lompoc California during his second Vietnam tour. He is survived by wife Marlene and children Liesa and Ronald, with services planned at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Fulton born August 4 1942 in Walla Walla Washington. He was highly decorated holding the Distinguished Flying Cross and multiple Air Medals among other honors.

Brown enters race for House Democratic leadership
Sacramento UPI Willie L Brown Jr. of San Francisco announced his bid to succeed Assemblyman Jess Unruh as House Democratic leader next month. Other candidates include Joe A. Gonsalves and Robert W. Crown. Unruh plans to resign to pursue the gubernatorial nomination.
