City Considers Ordinance Banning Air Rifles

City council ordered a draft ordinance to prohibit air rifles inside city limits after ongoing reports of broken windows and lights. Chief William Petersen said state law only bans firing over public roads.

Dr Briscoe presents a bond driven expansion for the high school including seven new classrooms by converting existing space and a modern gym to chair a total eight classrooms. He estimates the plan will cover six sevenths of enrollment by 1959 and notes a potential post 1960 revote on over ride taxes may occur with a cap of 1.25 dollars before 1960 and 95 cents afterward.

District weighs future use of Terrece Ortzy site

Lockwood told a federal official that an architect's Field Act and building code conversion would cost 30 000 dollars or more. The district argues the structure remains inadequate and converting it into two classrooms would saddle the district with extra maintenance and campus costs, making it a bad investment.

City and county agree on dog licensing plan

The Lempoc Valley reaches a dog licensing arrangement with licenses issued by the city clerk and enforcement by the Humane Society. The county finances the program with a $1200 annual city reimbursement, leashes not required for city dogs, and a 90 day cancellation clause under a potential contract. Councilman Schuyler initially objected but withdrew after the clause was proposed.

Infant Care Classes Gain Response

The 4-H Club sponsors a Baby Sitters Training Course in Lompoe starting February 1 with eight classes planned on Wednesdays at 7 50 pm in the Community Center penthouse. Miss Josephine Williams of UC Agriculture Extension led the initial meeting on February 1 on introduction to babysitting with guides for parents sitters and employers.

Airman Returns Home for Family Visit

Enos I. Mello arrived in Lom poc yesterday for a brief visit with his mother Mrs. Mary F Mello and his brother Ted at 117% North G street after a one week training period at Park Air Force Base. Mello, a 1955 Lom poc High School graduate, will soon report at the Cheyenne Air Force School for further schooling.

Class Elections Held Friday at Lompoc High

Lompoc High conducted class elections on February 3 with student leaders named for each class. Seniors elected John Floag as president with Frank Guevarra vice president, Lynne Showers secretary, Rose bel Scolari treasurer, Jim Rudolph representative.
