Baptist Girls Auxiliary Houseparty in Santa Maria

The Baptist Girls Auxiliary held its annual houseparty at First Southern Baptist Church Santa Maria with girls ages nine to sixteen. Mission Hills secretary Mrs Thomas Rhodes led planning and Miss Audra Phillips played piano as Clinton Gambill led music. Speakers Rollin Spencer and Mrs Spencer discussed Christian service and family life while nine to twelve year juniors performed a Yankee Doodle Dandy skit. Leaders included Larry Dale and Queen Regent Sylvia Vick.

Missionary Union Names New Director at Mission Hills Church

Mrs. John W. Opal Walker was introduced as the new director of the Women’s Missionary Union at Mission Hills Baptist Church. Event titled Few Among Many featured hostess duties by Opal Walker and Dale Soulek. After the program attendees enjoyed cake and hot chocolate beside a Valentine themed table centerpiece with a cupid doll and red and white net.

Toastmistress state speech competition finals set in Lompoc

Lompoc Toastmistress Club hosts club finals for the annual competition at Golden Greek Restaurant at 7 p.m. Open to members at all levels with three impersonal subjects given a week prior. Notable competitors include Mrs. David Massey and Mrs. Richard Mrs. Gary Goodwin among others. event coordinated by International Toastmistress Club Council with reservations through Feb. 10.
