Camp Fire candy sale underway in Lompoc area

Camp Fire Girls of all ages kick off their annual candy sale starting January 30 in Lompoc, Vandenberg Village, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Mission Hills, Solvang and Buellton. The 60th year of service funds programs for girls as Blue Birds, junior and senior Camp Fire groups sell chocolate treats in pairs led by volunteers across the community.

Meatball Dinner Hosted by Jobs Daughters at Masonic Temple

Miss Cathy Tugman, senior princess, leads a meatball dinner Saturday night at the Masonic Temple to raise funds for Bethel 349 International Order of Jobs Daughters. Linda Champion presides as honored queen. Bethel plans March of Dimes door to door efforts and a skating party, with workers meeting at Mrs. Lewis Johnson’s home and joint transit to the rink.

OES Induction Visits Honor Veteran Members

Elected Junior Senate Member at Christian College

Miss Ginny Moore wins a junior senate seat in the Campus Community Government at Christian College Columbia Missouri. She is one of ten first year students elected to represent her class in the student government of the two year liberal arts school which formerly admitted only women and opened to men last September. Seven male students join 490 women on campus.

Paul Highfills Celebrate 25th Wedding Anniversary Open House

The Paul Highfills held a home open house at 228 S. D St on Saturday January 31 to mark their 25th anniversary. Family and friends attended including Frank Flint and Tad Bridenthal with Sheri and Scott Highfill. Myra and Bob Abrams sent a floral tribute. Sierra Club Outing Planned at Figueroa Mountain

The Sierra Club invites the public to a Saturday hike on Figueroa Mountain starting at 10:00 a.m. The five mile downhill route to De La Guerra Camp features red rock formations and includes a car shuttle back to the start.
