Juveniles Arrested on Marijuana Charges Near Lompoc

Three youths aged 15 and 16 were taken into custody by Sheriff deputies on Badger Hill Road south of Lompoc on marijuana charges. A small quantity of marijuana and hashish was seized. They were released to their parents as juvenile authorities prepared to question them.

Lompoc Project Feasibility Report Timeline Outlined

R J Pafford regional director of the Bureau of Reclamation says the completed Lompoc feasibility report could be submitted to the Santa Barbara County Water Agency by mid March with processing extending to Congress for final authorization. The report envisions a 245000 acre foot reservoir on the Santa Ynez River and notes delays for flood control studies and an economic reappraisal due to rising costs and higher interest rates. Local officials will review the letter and discuss steps at a city council meeting.

Lompoc Council to weigh five acre park purchase

The Lompoc City Council will consider buying five acres along O Street north of La Canada Elementary School for a proposed park. Train crash blamed on signal error near Benavidez Station

Police blamed a signal error at Benavidez Station for a Buenos Aires express slamming into a crippled local train. About 154 bodies moved from wreckage with unofficial tolls around 200 to 300 injured. President Ongania visited the site as officials investigated the calamity.

Two weekend traffic accidents injure four Lompoc residents

Four Lompoc residents were injured in two weekend crashes. Roger Hudson, 34, and Sandra Hudson, 27, were treated at Lompoc Hospital after a collision with Cecil Helsel, 63, on Highway 246 two miles east of Cebada Canyon Road. Helsel’s passenger A St. Perecia Helsel, 53, refused aid. In a second crash, Roy Bobbitt, 41, was minorly injured when his pickup ran off Highway 246 east of Cebada Canyon Road and was treated at Vandenberg AFB Hospital. Investigators cited temporary blindness from oncoming headlights. A third incident on Harris Grade left Tom and Gertie Dodson injured. both were taken to Lompoc Hospital.

Court approves giant rail line merger creating western empire

The Supreme Court unanimously approves a five rail line merger, forming a rail network spanning 17 states and two Canadian provinces on 26 500 miles of track.
