Karen Schneider wraps up year as Lompoc student board rep
Cabrillo High School senior Karen Schneider served on the Lompoc Unified School District board starting last July and will be replaced in January by Tony Ward. The fifth student member since 1974, she has balanced meetings with classes, attended conferences in Ojai and Solvang, and drafted an idea book and a student board member policy. Karen pushed a competency test for graduation, reported student views to Cabrillo ASB, and foresees longer terms and ongoing student outreach as future goals. Her Air Force family background includes Lt. Col. John R. Schneider and siblings Krista Kathe and David. she plays flute, drills, and serves as senior class ASB rep.

FECs First Children’s Christmas Party At Vandenberg AFB
The FEC held its first children’s Christmas party at Vandenberg Air Force Base drawing about 200 children and parents. Canned goods were donated for the "Big Brother" boxes as Richard Willey led the event with music, puppet shows, and a visit from Santa Claus Ted Langen who gave each child a gift.
