Johnny Weismuller former Olympic swimming champion and Tarzan actor aged 68 slipped while attempting to sit at a Caesar's Palace sports dinner in Las Vegas and injured his hip. Doctors at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital took x rays. the injury's severity was not known. Weismuller won five Olympic gold medals in 1920 and 1924 and later starred in Tarzan films. He currently lives in Florida managing health food stores.

Federal prosecutors say 29 people including top harness racing drivers were indicted for conspiring to fix superfecta races at Roosevelt and Yonkers. The scheme ran from January 1 to April 13, 1973, paying drivers $1000 per race to keep horses out of the money while others bet all possible superfecta combinations.
