Two Lompoc Men Face Sex Charges and a Wounded Hunter

Two Lompoc men, Charles Edward Jacoway and John Derek Taylor, face unlawful sexual intercourse charges involving two 15 year olds. Jacoway also faces narcotics paraphernalia, furnishing drugs to minors, and defacing jail property charges with bail set at 8440 dollars. Taylor's bail is 1250 dollars. A hunter, Robert Miller, is in good condition after a hunting accident left a slug in his right foot near Jalama Road. 4-H Club holds a meeting at Grange Hall tomorrow at 7 30 p.m.

Nixon helps break Berlin talks deadlocks in 1960s negotiations

UPI reports Nixon personally helped resolve stubborn impasses in Berlin talks with Russia during 17 months of talks among the United States Britain and France. In October Soviet ambassador Abrassimov refused access talks, then shifted stance after a meeting between Nixon and Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko. Western officials say the draft agreement may open more crossing points through the wall in West Berlin.

U S dollar holds steady as yen devalues in Tokyo trading

The U S dollar stayed about 5 percent below prior parity after Japan floated the yen. It closed at 341.70 per dollar, a 5.05 percent devaluation, with banks predicting further drops amid global market moves and mixed reactions in Paris and Stockholm.

Obituaries and Funeral Rites in Lompoc Area

Funeral services were held in Memphis for Leroy Webb 40 a former Lompoc resident stationed at Vandenberg AFB. He died of a heart attack at his Memphis home. Survivors include his wife Irma and three sons Clifford Donald and Roy. The family moved from Lompoc a year ago. Graveside rites tomorrow 2 pm at Santa Maria Cemetery for Ernita N. Feland 68 of Lompoc who died Friday. She was born Dec 13 1902 in San Diego and lived in Santa Maria 20 years before moving to Lompoc in 1963. Burial at Santa Maria Cemetery. Also listed are Arnold George Kilian 64 and Ruby Lauretta Kilian 61 killed in an automobile accident. Service 1 pm tomorrow at First Southern Baptist Church, burial Woodbine Cemetery Puyallup Wash. Kilian formerly worked for Federal Electric Corp resided at 134 S G St. Survivors include daughters Jeanne Thorson and Sharon Forman of Lompoc, grandchildren, and siblings. Mary Jane Anderson 40 who died yesterday at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance. funeral arrangements pending at McPeek Family Mortuary.
