Freshman Republican Doubts Chance To Block Pension Bill
Sacramento freshman Assemblyman Bob McLennan says little hope remains to block a 1.1 million pension bonanza for retiring legislators. He aimed to amend SB2064 to repeal a 1965 law allowing immediate pensions after retirement during reapportionment years. Willie Brown Jr. says he will not bring the measure to the floor if McLennan pushes amendments, doom may come from another retirement bill already before the legislature.

New York Times Increases Weekday Newsstand Price
